Di beberapa packing dus radio HT atau Radio Rig sering ada tertera kode-kode IP singkatan dari Ingress Protection Rating atau sering diartikan International Protection Rating. Kode IP dapat diartikan sebagai penilaian terhadap perlindungan yang diberikan oleh casing mekanik dengan elektronik didalamnya terhadap benda padat termasuk tangan dan jari manusia, debu, air, serta kontak langsung secara tidak sengaja. Mudahnya IP itu nilai standart keamanan internasional untuk barang-barang elektronik.
Misalnya di dus HT Motorola GP 328 ada tertera IP54, untuk IP adalah kode perlindungannya, lalu untuk angka ada 2 digit angka.

Jadi untuk HT Motorola GP328 dengan kode IP54, untuk arti angka yang pertama adalah 5 ‘Dust Protection’ yang artinya debu masih bisa masuk ke peralatan elektronik tersebut namun tidak banyak, tidak sampai mengganggu pengoperasian peralatan tersebut. Angka kedua adalah 4 ‘Splashing water’ artinya apabila peralatan elektronik dari luar terkena percikan air dari segala arah tidak menmbulkan efek yang berbahaya.
